Documents To Go 6

In version 6 DataViz still leaves Mac users behind feature-wise, but introduces some important new features.

With version 6 comes native file support. This means DTG can open and save .doc files on external cards or as email attachments. It also means this version will allow you to beam and receive native files from PocketPC devices. This feature alone makes the upgrade worthwhile if you worked in a mixed-OS mobile environment.

On native files, Documents To Go now supports password-protection. Spell checking is another nice new addition. There’s support for high-resolution screens, including 320×480 screens in landscape and portrait. If you have an expansion card, you can sync documents directly to the card.

Mac users will continue to miss out on features like PowerPoint support and syncing with a desktop email client. With parity on the new features, most users will be forgiving. The desktop application (as well as the handheld application) allow you to selectively sync documents. DTG supports syncing between more than one desktop, which works smoothly even cross-platform.

With the introduction of native support, Documents To Go levels the playing field. The ability to open and save Word and Excel files without the desktop application will add all kinds of value to your Palm device.
