QuickBooks Pro 5
QuickBooks returns to the Mac, OS X ready and full of new features.
The Macintosh platform has never professed to have the most applications, but thanks to companies like Intuit, we have some of the best. The maker of Quicken has come out with a much-anticipated OS X version of QuickBooks.
One thing that particularly impressed me with QuickBooks was the depth of experience that has gone into the program. With QuickBooks comes years of experience that will help you to be effective in your specific industry.
QuickBooks knows what you need better than you do. The installer prompts you to chose an industry an accordingly it customizes your setup. With industry specific tools, QuickBooks can manage more than just your money.
When customized for Graphic Design and Printing, QuickBooks can generate Estimates and standardize hourly fees while hiding away less applicable things like inventory. In fact the application’s setup program lets you customize all kinds of things, while showing the recommended settings for your industry.
Invoices and Statements are quickly and easily generated. Per company settings allow you to provide a customized look for your all your forms. Don’t look for any special tie-in features with Microsoft Office. On the upside, QuickBooks can generate all kinds of forms to print or as PDF’s.
Like other business management tools, QuickBooks has built-in client and vendor databases. Unfortunately, these don’t support the vCard standard. Employees are well managed with timecard information stored right in the application.
QuickBooks is the most comprehensive business money manager out there for OS X. It is also more expensive than alternatives. QuickBooks is the best fit for companies looking for an all-in-one solution, while those looking for simple account management could save some bucks with other products.
Pros: Fits your business like a glove. Supports everything from payroll to purchase orders.
Cons: A little expensive. Lacks extensive compatibility with other applications (like Office).
QuickBooks Pro 5 is $299.95, upgrade for $179.95
