StuffIt Deluxe 7

Stuff This: Deluxe 7.0

We all know Aladdin for its popular compression format. The free Stuffit Expander is probably the only internet app on your computer that has been around longer than Internet Explorer. Well, there is much more than expanding and compressing going on at Aladdin.

StuffIt Deluxe 7.0

For professionals (especially those who frequently use the Internet, which is all of them) files are our world. Many of us spend our day sending, receiving them or looking for them.

StuffIt Deluxe was made for pros who don’t want to spend all day shuffling files. One of my favorite features of Deluxe is StuffIt Express PE. Most of you have probably never heard of this, even though it could have a huge impact on your workflow.

With StuffIt Express PE you create “drop box” applications that compress or decompress, FTP, email, download or open files and folders. You build your custom drop box and then use it with a simple drag and drop. And you can do this without a line of scripting.

StuffIt Deluxe also comes with ArchiveSearch, a tool to locate files within an archive. Also included are the standard drag-and-drop compression and encoding applications.

Version 7.0 supports a new format, .sitx, with improved compression and 512 bit encryption. Also new is an add-on that lets you save compressed documents right from Microsoft Word.

But that’s not it. Aladdin has one more treat in Deluxe, and that’s Magic Menu. This menu extra allows you to select a file and compress or decompress it. Very handy if you don’t like drop boxes cluttering your desktop. And, if you don’t do menu extras, then there’s the contextual menu that provides the same options.

If you are a professional that handles and transfers any kind of file (especially large ones) you need this program. Stuffit Deluxe is an incredible tool for file handling and will save you time.

StuffIt Deluxe is $79.99 new and upgrade for $29.99
