Apple announces 8-core Xeon Mac Pro like it’s not a big deal
The 4-core Mac Pro was no slouch but evidently Apple wanted to give a little something extra to all those people who were waiting for Adobe CS3 to be announced before buying a new Intel-based Mac workstation. This morning without much fanfare, Apple updated its homepage to announce the new 8-core Xeon Mac Pro. Yeah, that’s right, 8-core. That’s two 3.0GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon processors with up to 3TB of internal storage and up to 16GB of fully buffered ECC RAM.
Just like yesterday’s Mac Pro, every 8-core Xeon Mac Pro is built to order with prices starting at about USD$2,499 and topping out at over USD$12,000.
