Apple makes the AFI Awards 2005 Moments of Significance list

The American Film Institute today revealed their list of the year’s Moments of Significance. These six noteworthy events were determined to have had an impact on the world of the moving image during the calendar year 2005. One of the six events, titled “TV Breaks Out of the Box”, names Apple as a contributor to this migration of television to multiple screen platforms:

Apple Computer introduced a new video iPod in concert with a content distribution deal with ABC that made Lost and Desperate Housewives available for download. Later, NBC Universal announced a deal to deliver more than 300 episodes from prime time, cable, late-night and classic TV shows via iPod.

AFI will honor the creative ensembles for each of the honorees at a luncheon on Friday, January 13, 2006, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles, California.
