SWsoft launches the Parallels Why Choose? Video Contest

According to the example spot posted to launch the contest, because Parallels lets you run Windows and Mac OS X on your Intel-based Mac without rebooting, you don’t have to choose between a Mac or a PC anymore but you do have to make choices. The folks at SWsoft, makers of Parallels, hope that you will choose to submit a video to their Why Choose? Video Contest and become eligible to win a trip for 2 to Macworld 2008 in San Francisco, a decked out MacBook Pro and a Sony HDR-SR7 HD Handycam.

Check out all the prizes and contest details online.

You can use whatever artistic medium you want be it a short film, animation, song, photograph to create an original three-minute or less video about a time when you didn’t compromise between two great things. In an effort to attract some of the brightest and creative minds out there, Parallels is allowing college, film, art and high schools to register their students for the contest. If the grand prize winner is a student enrolled at your school, your school will receive a $10,000 technology grant.

Deadline for submissions is December 9th, 2007.

Stop Motion Animation… The Next Generation

istopmotion 20071017 212318 Stop Motion Animation... The Next Generation

After over 2 years of development and a lengthy public test phase, iStopMotion 2 is ready for prime time and of course, Mac OS X Leopard. Features such as virtual stages, which allow an animator to place the objects into a prerecorded background, rotoscoping, where the animator loads in a video that guides him in the animation, the ability to record a certain number of frames in real time and support for HD cameras, take stop motion animation to a new level.

Stop motion animation is the easiest way to tell a story in a movie. No need for talented actors. No need for a budget. No need for a script. Just some toys, a table top or a clear patch of carpet and a bit of fantasy to get you started. And, according to our customers, iStopMotion is the best tool to get the story into your movie. Teachers love it because their students love it and create short masterpieces within a couple of hours. Parents love it because their kids have fun doing something worthwhile. Professionals love it because they can work much faster than with traditional film based methods. You will love it because you have never been more creative before.

iStopMotion 2 comes in three flavors, targeting different users. The Home edition is for the family, where the parents want to spend a great weekend with their kids. The Express version is for the serious hobbyist animator, with all the great stuff appreciated by pro animators at a reasonable price. The Pro edition is for the animator who makes money (or plans to) with stop motion animation. A special education edition with a multi-user license key is available for educational institutions.

iStopMotion 2.0 is available immediately. A built-in assistant will guide users through the process of aquiring the proper license. iStopMotion 2.0 Home is available for USD$49, iStopMotion 2.0 Express is available for USD$99 and iStopMotion 2.0 Pro is available for USD$499 via Kagi.
