Apple posts iChat Update 1.0

Do you like your text, video and audio encrypted when you use iChat AV? If you do, Apple has posted an update that “renews the .Mac certificate required by iChat for encrypting text, audio and video conferences.” All this science I don’t understand, but it sounds like if you want your iChat conferences encrypted, this update is for you… unless you’re still on a PowerPC chip. in which case this update is for you.

I suppose you could just use Software Update and have it choose the right update, but that’s taking the easy way out.

iGlasses adds White Balance adjustment for built-In iSight

Ecamm Network Thursday announced a new version of their iGlasses software. Version 1.3.6 adds a white balance slider control for use with Apple’s built-in iSight camera. This gives built-in iSight users the ability to manually compensate for various lighting conditions that may give video images a blue or orange cast.

The new version also adds support for applying iGlasses enhancements in PiXiMation and FlipBook, as well as other minor fixes and enhancements.

Ecamm Network’s iGlasses is unique software that allows Mac users to adjust iSight video settings from within popular video applications such as iChat AV, Skype and iMovie. Features include brightness, color settings, night vision, manual focus, flip and rotate.

Conference Recorder for iChat AV Updated

Ecamm Network Wednesday announced a new version of their Conference Recorder for iChat AV. Version 2.0.2 adds the ability to create higher quality recordings and save movies at higher resolutions. Also included are numerous fixes and enhancements.

Conference Recorder adds a simple recording windows to iChat AV, allowing users to automatically save all iChat audio and video chats as QuickTime movie files. Movie audio is saved as two separate QuickTime tracks, which can be converted to MP3 format or extracted for further editing and podcasting.
