Build a Porsche out of orange peals… in Photoshop, obviously

gold orange porsche medium2 20080910 194530 Build a Porsche out of orange peals... in Photoshop, obviouslyI’ve been meaning to post a link to this tutorial for a while now and while everyone is still talking about the new iPods and the array of cases, docks, speakers and FM transmitters that have been or will be adjusted to fit them, it seems like a nice diversion.

Orange Porsche. Fruit Skin is a tutorial from Alfoart that will ultimately teach you how to apply any texture to any object in a realistic way. For a donation via PayPal, you can download the Photoshop file for yourself and deconstruct how it was created as you follow the freely available tutorial step by step.

Amazing work.

So that’s it, huh? That’s the Microsoft Seinfeld ad that is gonna put ”Get a Mac” to shame?

If this is what all those rumors were about, not only does Apple have nothing to worry about, but I no longer think Jerry Seinfeld is a traitor to the Mac cause: he totally scammed Microsoft out of their money and gave them nothing in return.

Jerry Seinfeld, you’re my hero.

Note:The second ad is a bit better…not much, but a bit.

Copy and Paste from app to app on the iPhone

Cut and Paste for iPhone from Cali Lewis on VimeoI’m breaking our iPhone silence to point you to some news I find interesting even as a non-iPhone-user. A guy named Zac White has found a way for iPhone application developers to add copy and paste functionality to their apps without violating the terms of Apple’s SDK. The technique used, outlined in the video embedded here, requires that developers agree to adopt the method in order for everyone’s apps to play nice together.

I find the SDK violation avoidance method intriguing and will be interested to see how Apple reacts.
