Getting worked by iTools

Remember the happy days of yore, when the Internet was all about being free? You thought it was bad when Versiontracker.com, Yahoo and others started charging for premium services. Today Apple topped them all.
Today Steve Jobs. the .Mac slum-lord gave an eviction notice to all 2 million iTools users not willing to cough up $50 for the new .Mac service.

Steve cooed about the value, but by my last calculation, for $100 a year you could own your own domain and host your own 50 meg email account and have change for a Slurpee. Anyone for you@cheaperthanmac.com?

And, while Jaguar was announced with pricing, no upgrade cost was announced for all of us “beta testers” from 10.0 and 10.1.

Well, MacMerc is still free!
