Tips to being published

A great feature here at MacMerc.com is that anyone can submit a story! Now, not just the three “Mercs” can have the floor for thousands of people to read. Here are some tips that can help you get published.

1) Register as a user! Although this isn’t a must it’s the easiest way to get your news published. If you do register and ignore the following two tips don’t count on seeing your story though icon smile Tips to being published

2) Be clear and expressive. Writing is an art, treat it as such. Read what YOU write and think how you can improve it. Check your spelling as well. Who ever does the actual publishing of your story (one of the mercs) has the opportunity to change the story around but we don’t really like to. icon smile Tips to being published

3) Make sure the story has a link if there is one. No one likes reading a great story and then not finding a link. When you put your link don’t just type out the URL, code it in HTML. If you don’t know HTML, here is a link to get you started: W3 . When you use links check them to be accurate. Some sites don’t allow deep linking and have session tied URL’s.

Those three things are what we most look for (as long as the story is on topic). So with these in mind, there is no reason why ANYONE can’t get published in just a few short hours after submitting.

Teaching SlashDock 2.0 to pick up MacMerc.com headlines

Today marks both the release of a new and possibly improved SlashDock 2.0 and the publishing of a new DYI guide to getting said freeware application to work and play well with MacMerc.com.
If you wish, the SlashDock.config.plist file in our Downloads will still work with SlashDock version 2.0 as before.
