Free iPods come with strings attached, but they do come says NYT article

In case you were wondering if the folks at FreeiPods.com (aka Gratis Internet) were somehow the exception to the rules “There is no free lunch” and “If it seems too good to be true, it is”… they aren’t. As this New York Times article (free signup necessary) explains, you must sign up for one of about 10 different offers and hornswoggle five of your friends into doing likewise. And while Gratis makes no secret of this fact, somehow while giving away approximately 500 iPods a week, the company’s revenue for 2003 was nearly $5 million and 2004 is expected to triple that.

I dunno. I’m not signing up. Have any of you signed up and received a free iPod?
