acard mini 400 1 20070910 181839 QuickerTek brings 802.11a/b/g/n to the Mac miniQuickerTek has announced a new 802.11 upgrade for Mac Mini Intel computers. Most notable is the addition of 802.11a wireless – a feature not even available from Apple. It is available as both a user-installed product for USD$149.95, or QuickerTek can install the upgrade for the customer for USD$199.95 (including the upgrade and installation but excluding users choice of shipping).
This upgrade provides 802.11 a/b/g/n compatibility for complete wireless network freedom. The upgrade also has an external antenna for ‘a’ wireless as well as three antennas for MIMO wireless – which enables the Mac Mini to easily reach top wireless speeds not previously possible on accessible networks.

The user-installed upgrade includes the high speed 802.11 upgrade card, external antennas, cabling, tools and illustrated installation manual–everything needed to install the Mac Mini upgrade.

The installation service is available using any shipping option the customer chooses, with shipping charges added to the $199.95 installed upgrade cost. The upgrade service allows the customer to pay for the exact shipping speed and company they prefer.

This wireless networking upgrade is made to the same specifications as the Apple factory networking products. It works with all 802.11a//b/g/n WiFi equipment including Apple AirPort, AirPort Extreme and the latest 802.11n version of AirPort Extreme, as well as common wireless hardware from Linksys, Belkin and other popular brands found in thousands of wireless networks across the country.

Like most QuickerTek products, this 802.11a/b/g/n wireless upgrade is backed with a one-year warranty on parts and labor.

Desktop Transporter 2.5 adds bookmarks

desktoptransporter 1 20070726 212920 Desktop Transporter 2.5 adds bookmarksDEVONtechnologies has released Desktop Transporter 2.5, its remote desktop solution, with a number of new features that have been frequently requested by the users. Bookmarks make it easy to connect to remote Macs that are not located on the local area network and available via Bonjour. Sleeping Macs can even be woken up over the network or over the Internet as long as they are physically connected to the local network. The new edition also gives you the ability to scale the thumbnail pictures in the Bonjour browser for a better overview.

Desktop Transporter 2.5 also makes sharing desktops over the Internet easier. It fully supports NAT-PMP for automatically configuring the necessary port forwarding. Port forwarding creates an outside connection that the external Mac uses to get access to the to-be-controlled Mac inside the network. NAT-PMP is currently available in all Apple Airport base stations as well as in a number of other routers.

Finally, version 2.5 allows sharing desktops right away at boot time or when users log in, and it fixes a common problem with Parallels Desktop 3.0 and the additional virtual network connections it installs.

Desktop Transporter 2.5 requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 later and a fast LAN and/or Internet connection is strongly recommended. It is immediately available as a free download that must be purchased after the evaluation period of four weeks is over; the update is free for all registered users. Desktop Transporter sells for USD$29.95 in DEVONtechnologies’ online shop. Students and educators discounts are available.

QuickerTek upgrades your wifi to the Nth degree… at your own risk

QuickerTek has just announced the availability of 802.11n wireless upgrade cards for Apple, Intel MacBook, Intel MacBook Pro models and Intel iMacs. Users can choose to buy the card and install it themselves for $149 USD, or send their computer to QuickerTek to have the card installed for only USD$199.
The latest 802.11n wireless network gear just announced by Apple has left many users lagging in wireless performance options. This new upgrade for QuickerTek customers allows MacBook and iMac users to stay current with the benefits of the fastest wireless. These wireless networking cards are made to the same specifications as the Apple factory cards and install into the AirPort card slot. They work with all 802.11/b/g/n WiFi equipment including Apple AirPort, AirPort Extreme and the latest 802.11n version of AirPort Extreme introduced at Macworld Expo.

The user-installed upgrade option includes the 802.11n upgrade card, tools and illustrated installation manual–everything needed to complete the upgrade at home. It should be noted that Apple has recently let it be known that Airport card installation is not a Do-It-Yourself procedure and that installing your own wireless card will void your warranty.

The installation upgrade service is available using any shipping option the customer chooses with shipping and handling charges added to the USD$199 product cost. Since this wireless upgrade uses standard parts, no drivers or other changes need to be made, nor are additional steps required to use the higher speed ‘N’ upgrade.

QuickerTek’s 802.11n upgrade card is compatible with Intel flat-panel iMacs, Intel MacBooks and Intel MacBook Pros.
