Case-mate ”grabs” QuickerTek’s Apple Laptop handle business

QuickerTek will continue to provide product development solutions to Case-mate’s current selection of laptop handles. Case-mate currently offers laptops handles for Apple’s MacBook, MacBook Pro and PowerBook under the product name handle-it.

Case-mate is a recognized leader in form-fit leather iPod cases as well as cases for laptops, cell phones and PDAs. Case-mate CEO, Shashi Reddy said “This acquisition for Case-mate very much defines the direction we are taking. Not only is this a logical addition to our product assortment, but the move helps position us in the marketplace for exponential growth.”

Boot Camp 1.1.2 beta posted

Today Apple posted an update to its Windows booting utility, Boot Camp, bringing this beta release up to version 1.1.2. The updates in Boot Camp 1.1.2 beta include:

  • Support for the latest Intel-based Macintosh computers
  • Easier partitioning using presets for popular sizes
  • Ability to install Windows XP on any internal disk
  • Support for built-in iSight cameras
  • Support for built-in microphones
  • Support for the Apple USB Modem
  • Trackpad scrolling and right-click support on Apple Laptops
  • Improved Apple keyboard support including Delete, PrintScreen, NumLock, and ScrollLock keys
  • Improved International Apple keyboard support
  • Updating to Boot Camp 1.1.2 beta

If you previously installed Boot Camp beta, you don’t need to partition your hard drive again (unless you want to change its size) or reinstall your Macintosh and Windows software or documents, but Apple stresses that it is very important to update the Boot Camp Assistant software, create a new Macintosh Drivers for Windows CD and install the updated software it contains on Windows XP. Complete instructions are provided in the Installation and Setup Guide included with the Boot Camp 1.1.2 beta software.
