AMCC offers Mac drivers for 3ware Sidecar
Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (AMCC) today announced the availability of Apple Mac Pro workstation support for the 3ware Sidecar, its SATA II external storage solution. The 3ware Sidecar delivers multiple terabytes of RAID protected desktop storage for music files, professional audio and video editing applications, high-end graphics, and all other capacity hungry applications.
The 3ware Sidecar includes a high performance 4-port PCI Express 3Gb/s SATA II RAID controller, a 4-bay external enclosure and a two meter Multi-lane SATA cable. The 3ware Sidecar offers up to three terabytes of external capacity with RAID 5 write speeds of up to 170MB per second.
The AMCC 3ware Sidecar for the Apple Mac Pro and Power Mac G5 workstations is available through AMCC’s worldwide network of distributors, VARs and direct market resellers. The Mac Pro driver will ship with the 3ware Sidecar on 11/30/2006 and can be downloaded free of charge. The suggested list price for the 3ware Sidecar is USD$1,295; disk drives not included.
