Witch 2.0 adds support for window jumping shortcuts

selector 20080422 211925 Witch 2.0 adds support for window jumping shortcutsWitch is one of those tiny apps that you can’t fully appreciate until you make it a part of your workflow. I’ll tell you what it does, but there is a very strong possibility that you will remain unimpressed. So I urge you to go download it, install it and train yourself to use it.

Okay, so what does it do? It allows you to switch between all your open windows–even hidden ones–by using a simple key command. It is very similar to using Command-Tab to summon app switching but it works on the window level instead of bringing an application into focus. It’s cooler than it sounds.

Witch 2.0 adds the ability to quickly jump to a specific window in the Witch list by tapping a corresponding numerical key.

The new version also adds one other new feature: a license field. The developer, Peter Maurer, has found that many of Witch’s users mistook the application’s “donationware” status as being “freeware.” I must admit, I sometime feel we contribute to this misconception when we feature donationware apps in our Freeloader Friday articles. We do try to remember to differentiate, but I fear that sometimes people just don’t get the message. The rule of thumb is, if you continue to use a piece of software, you should support its development.

If you find Witch 2.0 to be indispensable, you can license it for EUR 9.95.
