AudioEngine AW1 Wireless Adapter

The AudioEngine AW1 Wireless Adapters are an amazing new product for making your audio wireless. I tested them with my MacBook Pro and my Bose Companion 5s. There are two main components: a sender and a receiver. They are powered by USB, and allow you to send and receive sound over either USB or a 3.5mm jack.
Included in the box is the sender unit, the receiver unit, a USB power adapter, and a couple of cables for connecting the system to various audio devices. The setup was quite easy, I plugged the sender into my MacBook Pro with USB, connected the receiver to my speakers with the 3.5mm cable, then I went to System Preferences and configured my sound to go through them.
The quality of the system is superb. At no point during my testing was there ever any interference with the system or any dropouts. I was able to send the sound out through three floors with no loss of sound quality, and no drop out as expected with other systems.
Before testing the AW1s, I was skeptical of the true power of this system. To get an accurate gauge of the strength of this system, I tried a similar setup with my AirPort Express and Airfoil. The results were remarkable–no comparison–the AW1s blew the AirPort Express away.
Since the AudioEngine AW1s do not use Wifi or Bluetooth, they can be used with any audio device, not just a computer. I was able to use the W1s to send music from my TV to stereo, my Playstation to my TV, my iPod to my stereo, and many other configurations.
The AudioEngine AW1s are truely an amazing product, and there’s not one thing I would change about them. I would highly recommend them to all, and I can not wait to see more innovations such as this one come out of AudioEngine in the future.
