Quark acquires ALAP. InDesign plug-ins to be squashed? Probably.

Quark has announced that it has acquired the business and assets of A Lowly Apprentice Production Inc. (ALAP).

With this transaction, Quark has acquired ALAP’s award-winning suite of software, including design tools such as ImagePort and ShadowCaster, imposition tools such as Imposer Pro, and productivity tools such as XPert Tools and MarkIt.

One might also assume this transaction will serve to squash ALAP’s Plug-Ins for Adobe InDesign (Imposer Pro, InBooklet, InEffects, InTools and InTips). Under the FAQs the question, “How will ALAP’s plug-ins for Adobe InDesign and Adobe Acrobat be affected?” the following response is given:

We are finalizing the transition plan and we are evaluating product roadmap and the integration of ALAP’s products into the Quark family.
