Screen capture app, Jing, gets an update
Jing Project is a screen capture application that allows you to select and capture parts of your screen and save that area as a static picture or even a movie. Then you can add arrows, text and box highlights to draw further attention to the area you want to highlight.
Jing’s “share” button allows you to share your image or video with a friend by connecting to the free screencast.com. Click share, it uploads your media behind the scenes, and places the link to the screen in your clipboard. You can then email or paste that URL into your chat application for your friends to see.
Jing is currently free, so why is it filed under “Support Your Local Shareware”? Digging around on the site’s FAQ finds this:
…here’s the deal; Jing isn’t a product right now–it’s a project. What we’re trying to do is give this to the world and figure out whether it fills a need or provides a useful service. We’re asking for both your participation and feedback on this concept, so the least we can do is provide the Jing Project complimentary during this period. As we learn what you want from this, we’ll have a better idea what the pricing and business model might look like in the future.
Though this is an update, no indication is given as to what exactly was updated, but we did want to let you know about this cool app.
