…and yet one more update from Apple. Time Capsule and AirPort Base Station (802.11n) Firmware 7.3.2

timecapsule 20080630 213551 ...and yet one more update from Apple. Time Capsule and AirPort Base Station (802.11n) Firmware 7.3.2I must admit, I have an irrational fear of firmware updates.

The Time Capsule and AirPort Base Station (802.11n) Firmware 7.3.2 update requires that you already have AirPort Utility 5.3.2 installed (versions for Leopard, Tiger and Windows are available).

What does it do? Well, let’s see what Apple has to say…

The Time Capsule, AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express Base Station with 802.11n* Firmware 7.3.2 updates include bug fixes.

Hmm…bug fixes. That should take care of anyone who found the write ups on the other updates too exhaustive but it doesn’t ease my fears.

DEVONtechnologies takes over Desktop Transporter and releases 2.0

DEVONtechnologies announced today that it has taken over distribution of the remote desktop solution Desktop Transporter and presented a completely overhauled version 2.0.

Desktop Transporter is a remote desktop solution that allows users to use other Macs on either the local network or the Internet without physically accessing them. Like the much more expensive Apple Remote Desktop, Desktop Transporter shows the screen of the remote Mac either in a window or in full screen and allows the user to interact with the other computer as if it was the local one.

Version 2.0, which is available as a Universal Binary for both Intel and PowerPC based Macs, is a major update to the previously available version 1.4. A new menu extra makes it possible to access remote Macs without launching the main Desktop Transporter application, while a background helper application takes care of sharing desktops even when the menu extra and main application are not running.

Desktop Transporter 2.0 requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 later and a fast LAN connection is strongly recommended. It is immediately available as a free download and it must be purchased after the evaluation period of four weeks is over. Desktop Transporter sells for USD$29.95. Students and educators discounts are available.
