Embraceware Software announces Awaken 3.0
Awaken is a digital alarm clock for Mac OS X that wakes you by playing music or podcasts from your iTunes library. It can also put both you and your Mac to sleep with the sleep timer feature. Alarms can be created to alert you on a daily or weekly basis. You can also set a one-time alarm for any specific date and time in the future. Awaken also offers the ability to have the volume of the music, as well as the brightness of the screen, gradually fade in at the set alarm time.
Awaken 3 is a complete re-write from the ground up. It features a refreshed UI complete with a new professionally designed icon. Some of the new features include podcast support for the alarm and sleep timer. A new emergency alarm feature has been added along with a selection of preset alarm sounds to be used in the case of a problem with iTunes. A warning system has been put in place to warn of any problems with the alarm setup with an option to correct it. Support has been added for iTunes libraries that are not on the primary hard-drive or are in custom locations. Some of the UI enhancements include a way to toggle the alarm listing to put Awaken in a compact view, a preference for the background color of the clock, and drag-and-drop sorting. Awaken 3 also corrects any bugs that were reported from the previous version.
Awaken is available as a 14-day free trial and can be purchased for USD$8.95. Awaken is a universal binary for PowerPC and Intel Macs and requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or higher and iTunes 6.0 or higher.
