quicklook 20071126 200946 Boost the usefulness of QuickLook with these free plugins Over the last few days, I’ve noticed a few QuickLook plugins popping up and I thought I would link you to a few of them.

First, there is the Folder QuickLook Plugin which allows you to see the contents of folders from QuickLook including invisible files and time stamps.

From the same developer comes Zip QuickLook Plugin, a handy add-on that lets you look inside .zip files without taking the time to decompress them.

Last but not least, EPSQLPlugIn lets you get previews on EPS files in QuickLook from the Finder.

If you know about any other cool QuickLook plugins, please let me know.

(Currently) Free online raster to vector art convertor– VectorMagic

I’m beginning to think this place they call “Stanford” is like some secret training ground for smart people or something. I caught this link on “stanford.edu” floating around the ether and tried it out. It’s called VectorMagic and what it does is allows you to upload a raster graphic file (typical of pixel pushing programs like Photoshop) and convert it to a resolution independent vector graphic (typical of bezier curve twisting tools like Illustrator) quickly and easily. The resulting image can then be downloaded as an EPS and tweaked further or used as your new corporate logo.

I have tried the service on several pesky painted logos and found the results to be astonishingly good. You know, the kind of good where you don’t tell anyone how long you didn’t spend on the job? Take advantage of this while it’s in beta and free because something this good cannot come without a price.

CDFinder 5.0 media cataloging software now available

Norbert M. Doerner of West-Forest-Systems announced today that they have released version 5.0 of CDFinder, the company’s media cataloging software.

The new version sports a new user interface and can now catalog thumbnail previews for photo and image files of several types (JPG, TIFF, EPS, PDF, PSD, PNG, GIF, BMP, and several RAW formats). CDFinder 5.0 also adds direct integration with Apple Pages, Apple Keynote, Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress and other applications allowing you to drag any file from CDFinder directly into an open document of the other application.

CDFinder sells for USD$39 for a single private license. CDFinder 5.0 is a free update to registered users of previous CDFinder versions.
