USB DriveDock v4 priced in reach of the everyman
I’ve got to admit, I’ve kind of always wanted one of WiebeTech’s DriveDocks but they can be kind of pricy. But, you know, there have been many times when one would have come in handy. Well, now with the USB DriveDock v4, priced at USD$49.95, I really have no excuse.
The USB DriveDock v4 allows you to access data directly from any of the four most common drive types, 2.5″ and 3.5″ SATA or IDE/PATA drives, making this WiebeTech’s most versatile dock as well. Its single USB port allows attachment to all hosts including PCs, Macs and Linux. Like the rest of the DriveDock line, this unit allows you a bare hard drive by simply connecting the hard drive to the Dock, plugging in power and attaching the Dock to a computer.
Imagine that you are swapping an 80GB drive from an external enclosure and want to transfer its data onto the new 350GB drive you’re replacing it with. DriveDocks allow you to do this without having to make a needlessly cozy home for that old drive while you grab the goods off of it. Just connect the DriveDock to the naked hard drive and plug it into power and your computer. Once you’re done, you’re done. Pretty slick.
