iChatUSBCam v2.2 Adds Support for More Webcams

The new version of Ecamm’s popular iChatUSBCam plug-in adds support for many new USB webcams including currently available Logitech cameras, and includes other various fixes and enhancements.

iChatUSBCam lets USB camera owners to take advantage of iChat AV’s video conferencing features. Previously compatible only with FireWire cameras, Apple’s iChat AV can be used with USB cameras or any other QuickTime video source. The program also adds the ability to broadcast your screen in lieu of a camera.
iChatUSBCam is available at http://www.ecamm.com and is USD$9.95 shareware. A demo is provided free of charge to let users try it out before purchasing.

The FireWireVR is equipped with 2x SATA 3Gb/s hard drives and supports RAID 0 (SPAN), 1 (MIRROR), and JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks), and lists the control for different RAID settings on the external enclosure using a simple switch on the rear of the enclosure.

The FireWireVR is available in three capacities 500GB (USD$499), 1TB (USD$999) and 1.5TB (USD$1299) and are expected to be available in mid-late December 2006.

These updates provide Universal Binary support for both products so that they can be used on either Intel or PowerPC-based Macs. All of the features that were previously available for PowerPC-based Macs will now be available for Intel-based Macs as well.

TechTool Protege and DiskStudio can be ordered through select dealers and resellers worldwide or directly from Micromat. The retail price for TechTool Protege is USD$229. DiskStudio is USD$49. Current owners of TechTool Protege may purchase the TechTool Protege CD Update from Micromat for USD$25. Current owners of DiskStudio may purchase a DVD upgrade for the same price
