Pretty much what it says – a wreath that sits in your dock. Doesn’t get cooler than this.

Can’t say I didn’t warn you. May this week’s freeware make you’re season more jolly. This is your last week to send in nominations for this year’s best of, so message me with your favorite freeware!

Happy Holidays,

Brian

OpenFM iPhone app helps find best FM transmission frequency

openfm 20070829 194635 OpenFM iPhone app helps find best FM transmission frequencyFor users looking to find the best FM frequency for their favorite FM transmitter, DLO has launched OpenFM. Available immediately, OpenFM is a free iPhone application that enables US users to find the top-performing frequencies in their area. Searchable by zipcode or city/state, OpenFM pulls its results in real-time from an active database, not a flat file, thus ensuring the most accurate and up-to-date information available.

The OpenFM application actively searches an FCC-provided database of licensed FM broadcasters and, using complex algorithms, matches that information against known locations of radio towers to determine the highest quality FM frequencies to use. Results are returned ranked in three categories, from “Best Bet” to “Good” to “OK” quality. And, unlike similar services, OpenFM will work for any city across all 50 states.

In addition to the iPhone application, DLO is also offering a web-based version and will be rolling out an OpenFM widget for both Mac and Windows platforms in the coming weeks.
