This is an Adobe InDesign plug-in and requires an installed and supported version of Adobe InDesign v3 (CS) or v4 (CS2) prior to installing Q2ID. This plug-in enables QuarkXPress files of any version to be converted for use with InDesign CS or CS2. Q2ID [v2] is a one-stop solution to simply import into a InDesign file with the majority of the original QuarkXPress features and settings intact.

Q2ID [v2] will convert QuarkXPress documents that were created on either the Macintosh or Windows platforms. Some of the items that Q2ID will convert into InDesign formatted documents include fonts and style sheets; linked images and graphics, color blends, linked and anchored text boxes, CMYK specifications, Pantone selections and other color models and page positioning.

The upgrade will cost existing users of Q2ID USD$99.00 while first-time users can buy the latest version for USD$199.00. Multi-user licenses are also available.

Extensis updates Suitcase Fusion to version 12.0.1

Extensis has posted an update to its newly released font management software that “fuses” the strengths of Suitcase X1 with Font Reserve. The update is available to registered user of Suitcase Fusion and may be downloaded by logging in to the Extensis web site and accessing all updates that are available to you via the “My Products” page in your user account.

The full version of Extensis Suitcase Fusion sells for USD$99.95 for a single license and USD$479.95 for a five user pack. In addition, upgrades to Suitcase Fusion are available for USD$49.95 from Suitcase X1 or Font Reserve 3.

Changes in Suitcase Fusion 12.0.1

  • Face level font activation now works for fonts that are added in-place when you move fonts to a new location on the same volume.

  • When you import a previous database that contains permanently activated fonts, Suitcase Fusion now continues to operate.
  • Fonts that are added to Suitcase Fusion in-place can be activated using Face level activation, even when their location path is longer than 255 characters.
  • You can now open PDF files that contain Font Sense data which were previously saved from either Illustrator or InDesign in the Apple’s Preview application.
  • When you open auto-activated fonts, all duplicate font warnings are now real warnings.
  • When no longer managing System fonts with Suitcase Fusion, Suitcase Fusion now continues to operate as expected.
  • Permanently active fonts added in place will now show up in applications when Suitcase Fusion is lanched.
  • System font conflicts are now resolved properly in QuarkXPress 6.x, Adobe Illustrator CS, CS2, and InDesign CS and CS2.
  • Auto-activating a base weight of certain fonts no longer causes all fonts with a name matching the base weight to be activated.
  • Certain permanently active fonts in the font vault will now reactivate properly upon restart even if there is a duplicate of that font in the system folder.
