Games might be good for the iPod, but is the iPod good for games?
Before I get into this, I have to admit that I’m not much of a gamer. I play Halo (the original) online on my MacBook Pro during lunch breaks and I suck (feel free to pwn me between 12pm and 1pm PT; look for Bubs404a). And I think the last console I owned was the SEGA Genesis. Maybe that’s why today’s announcement has me jazzed and dismayed.
SEGA announced today that Sonic The Hedgehog is now available in the iTunes Store and ready for action on the new iPod nano with video, the iPod classic and the fifth generation iPod.
This game takes me back to that old SEGA Genesis again, which is great, but the problem I’ve had with other iPod games has me wondering if playing Sonic on my 5G is going to end in a broken iPod and some drywall patching. I just can’t get the click-wheel to respond properly. Maybe it’s me.
Is it me? Is it just that I suck at games? Do you play games on your iPod? Do you find the experience enjoyable? Or is the click-wheel a poor gaming controller? Let me know in our forums.
Sonic for iPod sells for USD$4.99. iTunes customers can buy the game for themselves, or give the gift of Sonic The Hedgehog by clicking the “Gift This Game” button in the iTunes menu.
