Speed up the mobile web
For this week’s PowerUser Monday, Jon Gales steps in to bring you his favorite tips on speeding up the mobile web. Though most mobile devices have limited download speeds, that doesn’t mean a mobile data connection isn’t handy. Get maps, read the news or check the status of an airline flight. And do it all without waiting forever while pages load.

MacMerc.com offers live coverage of Steve Jobs’ Macworld keynote address
As has been the tradition since MacMerc was launched, we will be hosting live Macworld keynote coverage that pushes the envelope by bringing you in on the action. We will have 3 reporters at the keynote address and simultaneously connected and posting to the MacMerc IRC chat–that’s IRC, not iChat. Our men in the field this expo include our own Jon Gales, “DigitalBill” Douthett of the Wizards of Technology and, on color commentary, tech broadcasting king Leo Laporte.
The Macworld keynote is scheduled for Tuesday, January 11th from 8AM-11AM (PST) and Mr. Jobs is expected to take the stage at 9am.
To take full advantage of this coverage, download an IRC client (we are recommending Conversation) and log on to irc.slashnet.org and join the channel #mercworld (a moderated channel where you can watch the announcements from our reporters) and #macmerc (an unmoderated channel where you can discuss the announcements with the other Mac fans. Any questions?
Our coverage of the Expo won’t end when the keynote is over. No, we have many other surprises in store for you. So get yourself set up to chat, and keep an eye on MacMerc.com for all the MacWorld Expo excitement.
