Some nosing around by iPhoneology unearths new iPhone app clues
While I wait for the iPhone to be made available here in Canada, I’m missing out on the kind of fun Tyler from iPhoneology is having:
While browsing through my iPhone’s firmware a few days ago, I came across something very interesting in one of the system preference files, “Default ApplicationState.plist.” Among the expected names, like “mobileipod” and “Weather,” there are a bunch of names in there that don’t appear on the iPhone at all.
The entries Tyler has highlighted in the screenshot at left appear to be iPhone ports of Tiger Dashboard widgets. Nothing more than these mere references have been seen as of yet, but this does seem to point to the direction an upcoming iPhone widget rollout might take. One very interesting item is the topmost highlighted entry “com.apple.mobile.radio” Hmm…radio? That’d be nice.
