EyeTV Free
In this Mini Media Mac we explored the EyeTV/ConvertX combo for turning your Mac into a PVR. With a new software update, EyeTV lets you record video iPod-playable videos directly from the EyeTV application. And, with the popularity and device options for EyeTV growing, so has the related freeware.
For users of EyeTV, this free update enables iPod video export. For digital TV models, this update also allows you to watch more than one channel at a time.
The export uses fast-encoding MPEG-4, supported by the iPod video. Again, if you don’t have EyeTV, this update won’t do anything for you.
This application allows you to control EyeTV from any Mac on the network. Using this you can dedicate a Mac to your home theater and control it from your iBook.
This FrontRow knock-off manages and plays your movie files, DVDs and live TV through EyeTV. The free software requires QuickTime 7, and offers a nice interface to your video.
Use TitanTV, the online programming guide for EyeTV, with Safari. Without this AppleScript Folder Action, Safari can’t create recordings. Get around this limitation with this handy utility
Stream EyeTV live programming across a network with this free utility. Additionally, you can even remotely control/pause the stream and even change channels. Works on both wired and wireless networks.
EyeTV and the Mac are a great combination that keeps getting better. iPod export support makes it even better.
