It does this utilizing an IEEE1394 PHY and optical transceiver (yeah I don’t understand that either–but 10,000 meters!!). The FireNEX800-SX is contained within a small box slightly larger than an iPod, which makes it unobtrusive and compact, allowing you to place it on a desktop already crowded with other things.

TheMacMind gets Slashdotted on leaked Flash-based iPod images

The great folks over at TheMacMind have acquired a leaked image of the rumored flash-based iPod. The tiny little screenless iPod is about the size of a pack of dental floss and consists of little more than the iPod’s famous click-wheel. The rumor looks promising and kudos to TheMacMind for scoring such an image. Their site is currently in bandwidth conservation mode as they fight to stay online in spite of the increased traffic driven to them from Slashdot.
