MacMerc writer and friend, Digital Bill Douthett was found dead in his apartment earlier today. Details are sketchy at this time but it is believed he died of natural causes.

I had never actually met Bill face to face, but got to know him first on the Geek Culture Forums and then on chat. We developed a very close friendship online and had teamed up many times on his Wizards of Technology podcast and on our side project The Spoilers. His passing is a shock to me that is difficult to express.

He is dearly missed.
UPDATE: A fund to help Bill’s family pay for the unexpected expenses of Bill’s funeral arrangements has been set up. Check the front page for details.

Kevin Smith offers Clerks 2 commentary ”podcast”

Kevin Smith, the writer, director and star of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, is adding a sixth film to his Jersey Trilogy with the release of Clerks 2 on July 21, 2006. To promote the film and, more importantly, to encourage repeat viewing, Smith has recorded a commentary for the film that will be made available on iTunes so that fans can bring their iPods the second time they see the movie and enjoy Smith’s wisdom and wit.

Snoogins.
