QuarkXPress 7 released

Quark Inc. announced today the release and availability of QuarkXPress 7, the newest upgrade to its flagship product. Debuting worldwide today, this powerful combines new and enhanced design features with multi-channel publishing, collaboration, and job-driven workflow capabilities to deliver improved creative development for publishing. Through Composition Zones, Job Jackets, transparency, OpenType, Unicode, and many other new features, QuarkXPress 7 makes it easier for creative professionals to work together, optimize design, and minimize production errors.

QuarkXPress 7 is shipping now and is available for USD$749.00 through Quark resellers and partners worldwide as well as the Quark online store. It is important to note that this release runs on Mac OS X v10.4 (Tiger) or later but is not a Universal Binary at this time.

With this new release, On2 has added new features to appeal to Flash developers and the growing community of Internet video-shorts producers.

New features of On2 Flix Pro 8.5 include:

  • Chroma color keying tools that enable users of any skill level to create stunning Hollywood-style “green screen” visual effects at a fraction of the price of competing applications;

  • Advanced control of On2 video encoder settings such as buffer and quantizer control, encoder speed, and sharpness;
  • Support for video cue point insertion to facilitate bookmarking/chaptering within videos, closed captioning, and event triggers.

On2 Flix Pro 8.5 is available immediately for USD$249. Current On2 Flix Pro 8.0 licensees are entitled to a free upgrade to version 8.5; On2 Flix Standard 8.0 licensees are entitled to an upgrade discount. The product is also offered at a discount as part of the On2 Flix Studio application suite (USD$380).
