Weather Fun
Office missing a window? Reconnect with Mother Nature with this week’s weather freeware.
This free app provides a series of cool images from radar maps to the Astronomy Picture of the Day. It has options to download and save hi resolution images too. It’s a rough beta, so some things don’t work as expected, but that makes it fun, right?
It may be 78 degrees outside, but its 111 degrees on my processor. With X Resource Graph you can run cool, colorful charts that show weather, CPU info and more. Even if you have no idea what the numbers mean, the charts add a secret-agent-esque mood to your Mac.
This is my favorite of the menu item weather bugs. This one you can even configure to send you an email, bounce the dock or play a song in the event of a severe weather alert. If streamlined is your style, try WeaterPop.
Sky is a screen saver that downloads your night sky complete with labels. While this screen-saver module is free, a $5 donation is suggested. You’ll need to find out your longitude and latitude to get a sky accurate to your location.
Whether the windy wrath of a thunderstorm, or happy rays of sun, now you’ll be on top of the weather. I hope you enjoy the freeware. More next week!
