Speak like Jobs

speaklikejobs 20080129 203430 Speak like JobsFor anyone who watched both the Bill Gates’ CES Keynote Address and Steve Jobs’ Macworld Keynote Address, one simple conclusion is blatantly obvious: Steve Jobs is a much better public speaker than Bill Gates. To adapt Jobs’ quote on the thinness of the MacBook Air and apply it to a comparison of these two speeches, Jobs’ keynote was less awkward at its worst than Bill Gates’ keynote was at its best.

Carmine Gallo of Business Week has posted an informative article entitled Deliver a Presentation like Steve Jobs where he has analyzed Jobs’ latest keynote and learned 10 key points that he explains so that you, too, can speak like Jobs.

Sharp eyes spy Time Machine changes in MWSF keynote demo

timemachine 20080122 212609 Sharp eyes spy Time Machine changes in MWSF keynote demoSome sharp eyes watching Steve Jobs’ keynote address from last week’s Macworld Conference and Expo noticed a new button added to the bottom of Time Machine’s window. The button is marked “Only Show Changes” and, I’m guessing, that once pressed it will change Time Machine’s behavior to only show files that have changed from backup to backup–call me crazy.

It seems reasonable to assume that this will be one of the features added in the upcoming Mac OS X 10.5.2 update. Time will tell.

The Steve Jobs 90 Minute Keynote (in 60 Seconds)

I really miss the days when Apple actually streamed video of the Macworld Keynote addresses. By the time the video of the keynote gets posted, we already know what was announced and the thrill is lost. It’s just 90 minutes of “I already knew that.”

Mahalo Daily with Veronica Belmont has done something that might help. They’ve just posted The Steve Jobs 90 Minute Keynote (in 60 Seconds). Now you’ve only got to suffer through 60 seconds of “I already knew that.”
