Loving Litho and strung out on CandyBar

litho 20071218 204526 Loving Litho and strung out on CandyBarPanic Software’s CandyBar has only been out for a few weeks, maybe a month, and I have to say I’m hooked. I love being able to give my System icons a new look. I have even moved my Leopard Dock from the right side of the screen back to the default position at the bottom in order to enjoy the custom Docks that come packaged in many of the iContainers available at the Iconfactory.

Feeding the addiction to System makeovers is the work the artists at Iconfactory have been hard at making their pre-Leopard sets enabled with 512 pixel resolution icons and custom Docks. The latest of these is Anthony Piraino’s Litho System. The perfect combination of bright colors and weathered shapes, Litho is making my System beautiful.

Litho System is free to download. CandyBar sells for USD$29.

The just released CandyBar 3 gets updated to 3.1

candybar 20071211 200357 The just released CandyBar 3 gets updated to 3.1Is there anything wrong with a developer updating their software so soon after launch? Of course not. It’s much worse for them to withhold a valuable update from their users, I think.

This update is, indeed, valuable. CandyBar 3.1 offers 4 new features (most notably, a Dock Preview function) and nearly two dozen tweaks and changes. The folks at Panic and Iconfactory must have been working hard to get this big an update out so soon after the apps launch. (A full list follows the “read more”)

CandyBar is a utility that allows you to change the icons on your Mac system-wide while also giving you the ability to change your dock theme. It sells for USD$29.

Do you find Leopard’s folders ugly? Replace them! PART 2

cb screenshot 4 20071127 183234 Do you find Leopards folders ugly? Replace them! PART 2Yesterday, I pointed you to a system icon replacement collection that was made by The Iconfactory with Leopard users in mind.

I pointed out that a lot of people aren’t impressed with Leopard’s icons or Dock. Today, The Iconfactory comes through again–this time in a team up with software developer Panic–they present CandyBar 3. The icon customization utility has been merged with icon organizer Pixadex with more power than ever–it now allows you to customize your system icons and Dock all at once!

Specially marked iContainers — neatly packaged sets of icons, available now at The Iconfactory — contain built-in replacement Docks, usable with a single click.

CandyBar 3 is available today from Panic for the low price of USD$29. Discount upgrade pricing is available for registered users of both CandyBar 2 and Pixadex 2. Additionally, users who purchased CandyBar 2 or Pixadex 2 on or after October 1st, 2007 qualify for a free, instant upgrade to CandyBar 3.
