Yasu Updated for OS X 10.4

Jim Mitchell Designs has released an updated version of its useful Mac OSX maintenance utility Yasu for better OS X 10.4 (Tiger) compatibility. Designed to be a quick first line of defense for solving OSX related issues, Yasu was developed with System Administrators who service large groups of workstations in mind, enabling them to perform a specific group of maintenance tasks quickly within a few clicks, rather than endlessly typing shell script commands in the Terminal application.

There are two distributions of Yasu available for Apple OS X users. Version 1.0.3, which supports Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) thru 10.3 (Panther), and version 1.3, developed specifically for Apple’s new OS X 10.4 (Tiger). Yasu is donationware.
The latest Tiger version addresses the following issues:

  • Fixed authentication issue that prevented periodic tasks (daily, weekly & monthly) from running as the true root user.

  • Authentication fix also allows for the prebinding routine to work properly again.
  • Revised pref storage method to fix issue that would prevent preferences from being written to disk at system restart.
  • Changed UI from Brushed Metal to Aqua.
  • Fixed some broken links in the Help documentation.

No changes were made to the Jaguar/Panther version (1.0.3) of the application.
