Is it any wonder the iPhone’s USB Power Adapters fell apart? ”Shocking” photos.

IMG 0922 20081028 111053 Is it any wonder the iPhones USB Power Adapters fell apart? Shocking photos.Last month, Apple announced the Apple Ultracompact USB Power Adapter Exchange Program in which it admitted that the adapters supplied with iPhone 3G and sold separately could “under certain conditions” lose its metal prongs in your wall power outlet, creating a risky situation for you as you try to remove them.

At the time, Apple claimed to have received reports of detached prongs on “a very small percentage of the adapters sold”, but looking at these pictures of a dissected USB Power Adapter I can’t imagine how the instances of “prong failure” could be anything less than commonplace. Depicted here, the prongs only extend into the adapter about 1/8 of an inch and are held in place with some type of glue and a bit of wishful thinking. Nice work.

If you haven’t sent your Ultracompact USB Power Adapter in for an exchange, please, do it today.

Apple drops the 10.5.3 update. Tweaks Mail, iChat, iCal, and AirPort among others

Apple put the questions to rest of when Mac OS 10.5.3 update is coming out by dropping it on Leopard users today.

The Mac OS X 10.5.3 Update and Mac OS X 10.5.3 Combo Update are available via Software Update or by visiting the support page and downloading. Either way the download will be a rather hefty 420 MB package. The update boasts over 70 changes and fixes to the system, Mail, iChat, iCal, AirPort and more. The full scoop on what’s changed is also available on Apple’s website.

Any time Apple updates Mac OS X, they update Mac OS X Server. Sure enough, the Mac OS X Server 10.5.3 Update and the Mac OS X Server 10.5.3 Combo Update are also ready to roll!

Eminem iPod video ad only the most recent example of Apple copying Lugz

63790358 d9a3cd5dd4 m Eminem iPod video ad only the most recent example of Apple copying LugzI started a forum thread and poll about the Lugz vs. Apple controversy and in the discussion, it occurred to me that the iTunes + iPod TV Ad featuring Eminem ad may not be the first time Apple lifted ideas from the Lugz “Arrow” ad from 2002… it may just be the most recent and most obvious.

As I’m sure you are all aware, Lugz footwear has sent a cease-and-desist letter to both Apple Computer and its ad agency, TBWA/Chiat/Day, over the obvious similarities between their ad and the Eminem spot that launched about a month ago at the announcement of Apple’s iPod with video.
