iLife ’08 apps get an update

ilife08 20070926 231301 iLife 08 apps get an updateiLife ’08 users got a gift from Apple today in the form of a “stability an compatibility” update. The updates issued today include:

Along with the usual “fix this/tweak that”, this update brings new features to iMovie ’08 including Multiple Clip Selection, Fine Tuning (to refine the start or end frame for any clip), Still Frame Creation, Frame-by-Frame trimming, Audio Ducking level control, Manual Audio Fades, Set Duration for Transitions and Stills and Show Current Playhead Time. Many of these features were among those that were part of the outcry by iMovie ’06 users when iMovie ’08 was released. Apple initially met this protest by offering iMovie ’06 to iLife ’08 owners and now, it seems, they are continuing to placate users by incrementally adding the demanded features to the “rebuilt from the ground up” iMovie ’08.

O’Reilly Releases ”iMovie HD & iDVD 5– The Missing Manual”

Author, David Pogue, says, “Don’t let the rumors fool you,” warns number one

correspondent David Pogue. “iMovie may be simple, but it isn’t simplistic.
It offers a wide range of special effects and flexible features for creating
transitions between scenes, superimposing text in your video, layering
multiple soundtracks together, and more. Unfortunately, many of the
best techniques aren’t covered in the only ‘manual’ you get with iMovie:
its electronic help screens.”
