SFX Machine RT 1.04 & SFX Machine Simulator

The Sound Guy, Inc., has announced the release of SFX Machine RT 1.04, an audio effects plug-in. The company has also unveiled the SFX Machine Simulator, an interactive online Flash program which allows web surfers to experiment with a simulated version of SFX Machine.
“We wanted to give potential customers a fun, interactive way to explore the capabilities of SFX Machine, without requiring them to download and install the demo,” said Earl Vickers, CEO of The Sound Guy, Inc. “The Simulator was the ideal solution.”

SFX Machine RT is available in VST format for Mac OS 8/9/X as well as Audio Unit format for Mac OS X. It comes with hundreds of presets, including conventional effects like choruses and flangers as well as a wide variety of unique effects and audio utilities. The plug-in allows automated parameter control via a simple “MIDI Learn” interface. A Randomize button enables users to explore the range of possibilities contained within each preset.

SFX Machine RT has been used to do sound design for radio production, TV shows, feature films, CDs and video games. The software has been streamlined for fast and easy use in audio production environments.

Version 1.04 offers improved Audio Unit functionality and enhanced stability.

Apple not gouging as much on Mac mini upgrades

Once the Apple Online Store was updated to include the Mac mini, it became quite clear that adding a SuperDrive and 1GB RAM would effectively double the price of the unit. Today, Apple has dropped the price of the Built To Order items as follows:

  • 1GB RAM was $475 now $325

  • Bluetooth and AirPort Extreme were $129 now $99
  • 80GB hard drive was $80 now $50.

It still seems like one would get a better deal buying their Mac mini, not from an Apple Store, but from an Apple retailer who can open the case without voiding the warranty and install less expensive non-Apple components without any backtalk.
