Updated Version of McAfee Virex Offers Virus Protection for Tiger OS

McAfee today announced that McAfee Virex for Macintosh now offers support for the Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) operating system. With extended support for Apple’s newest Mac OS X, small to large businesses can implement real-time prevention of viruses, worms, Trojans and other potentially unwanted programs across their Macintosh and heterogeneous environments.

McAfee Virex is available August 29, 2005 worldwide through McAfee, Inc. and its channel partners.

McAfee Offers Centralized Management of Security Protection for Macintosh Users

McAfee Virex 7.6 for Macintosh was announced today, offering centrally-managed virus protection for multiple Macintosh OS X systems. This new functionality has the ability to communicate with McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator for centralized system security configuration and enforcement.

With so few, if any, viruses that actually effect Macs, one often wonders why virus definitions for Mac OS X need to be updated at all. But just the same both Symantec NAV and McAfee Virex have posted new virus definition files for download.
