Torrent Time

BitTorrent isn’t new, and that’s good news since torrents work better with
more downloaders and better selection. Macs have been part of the community
from the beginning so its no wonder there’s some nice BitTorrent freeware.

mu Torrent TimeBitTorrent

It all started here. The original BitTorrent client is frequently updated
and sports all the essential features you need to download torrents. It’s a
good place to start.

mu Torrent TimeBits on Wheels

This native cocoa torrent client includes some extras, including
comprehensive stats and a psychedelic visualizer. Like other clients you
can pause and resume downloads. You can even use Bits on Wheels to create
torrent seed files.

mu Torrent TimeTomato Torrent

This BitTorrent client packs a powerful punch (or splat, if you will) in a
streamlined, fast application. The fastest of the torrent downloaders I
tested, this is a great no-nonsense torrent solution.

mu Torrent TimeTOTOTO

This free application augments Tomato Torrent, providing additional options for window placement and file download that make downloading multiple torrents easier.

mu Torrent TimeTorrent Searcher X

Torrent Searcher X is a simple program that lets you search multiple sites for torrent files from a single interface. It is a great starting place in your search for torrent files.

Of course torrents can be hard to find. While you’re on the hunt, you’ll want to bookmark Torrentz.com (which searches other torrent sites) and Isohunt.com one of the more popular torrent listing sites.

Happy downloading. Remember to respect copyright laws and all that good stuff.

So dazzling is iTunes 8′s Genius, that its new visualizer is overlooked

visualizer 20080909 220203 So dazzling is iTunes 8s Genius, that its new visualizer is overlookedWhat can I say–I like shiny things!

If you haven’t already noticed, and to be perfectly honest I only just noticed myself, iTunes 8 has a snazzy new default visualizer (it’s “Classic” visulaizer is still there for you purists). Pictured at right, the new visual accompaniment to your music can be controlled thusly:

?
Toggles the Help Screen
M
Changes the mode, cycling through what it has to offer
P
Changles the palette, cycling through the various colors
I
Shows the track info of the current song
C
Toggles “Auto-Cycle” allowing the visualizer to keep itself fresh and exciting (on by default)
F
Toggles “Freeze Mode” which stops the little watzit from growing or morphing
N
Toggles “Nebula Mode” which adds colored clouds to the mix…maybe they’re processor hogs and need to be removed on slower systems?
L
Toggles the camera lock that keep the point of view grooving to the tunes

So, set your playlist to Party Shuffle, hit Command-T and enjoy!

Jumping Steve is an iTunes visualizer that puts a Joy of Tech illustrated Steve Jobs on your screen dancing to whatever you pump through iTunes.

I don’t know if I’d leave this on as my default visualizer, but it is certainly good for a laugh. I hope Apple legal doesn’t make this go away.
