The Unity Dashboard Widget Challenge
It’s on…. the most high-tech Dashboard Widget making competition in the universe.
OTEE, the makers of the next-generation game development application Unity, today announced The Unity Dashboard Widget Challenge for Widgets made with Unity. Dashboard Widget publishing is the lightweight’est way of deploying games made with Unity (the others being Mac, PC, and web) and is a fun way to get started with Unity.
The competition runs for 14 days and the deadline for submissions is August 22 2005. There are some real fancy prizes to give out and the rules are simple so let the games begin: If you don’t have it already, download Unity and get started. You can have your first Dashboard Widget in 15 minutes, and from there on only the sky’s the limit.
If you already used your trial period, you can get a fresh trial run. See the rules for how-to.
Today’s top-notch game technology has been packed under Unity’s hood, and some of tomorrow’s too. High-octane Doom3 type graphics, amazing physics simulation, all stuffable into those tiny Widgets that Apple with characteristic charm put into Tiger, their latest Mac OS X update.
The competition was inspired by the users of Unity. The guys behind WidgetMonkeys.com have already created two hit Widgets and have promised more. And one of the developers of Unity was bored one day and made the Don’t Fall Over The Edge Widget game.
